A breif history of Seaton Hall

Seaton Hall Residential Home can look back on many years of care. Here are the key developments over the last 200 years.

Seaton Carew a watering place of high estimation, situated 3 miles south of Hartlepool and 2 miles north of the Tees mouth.

Seaton Hall is set back on a square green enclosed on 3 sides with cottages and several good looking houses. Seaton Hall was known by the name of the King's Head an Inn built in 1803 by Robert McDonald, of Durham Esq.

In 1827, the Kings Head was converted into a substantial gentleman's residence for J W Richardson, complete with vineries, croquet ground and summer houses. It has the advantage of picturesque views of the north sea and beach.

In 1988 the listed building known as the Seaton Hall Hotel, was converted by the previous owners for use as a Residential Home. Many of its original characteristics were retained giving the home the character and atmosphere which remains today

In 1992 a purpose built extension was added to the side and rear, increasing the homes capacity and its ability to cater for all aspects of care of the elderly, the home's philosophy encompasses first class standards of care in a homely environment
